Unlike most drum sanders' metal drums, the 5525's drums are rubber coated, so they absorb heat instead of reflecting it. Also, they are fluted, giving a space where air can flow in between the sandpaper and the drum, thereby cooling it. And of course, they oscillate, over a half inch in each direction, which reduces heat buildup even more and minimizes streaking. Worried about changing sandpaper? Don't be. Changing paper is a breeze with the spiral wrap and quick load drum endcaps, and their spring-loaded clips keep the paper tightly wrapped around the drums.
