Yew (H) (Taxus brevifolia) The heartwood is golden orange-brown streaked with dark purple, mauve and brown in patches with veins and tiny knots. Has good bending properties. Moderately difficult to work with, but straight grained material works readily and can be planed to a good smooth finish. Specific gravity .67
