Walnut, Black (H) (Juglans nigra) aka American Walnut found throughout Eastern USA. Also grows in the Pacific Northwest with striking purple and pink streak colors. The heartwood is pale to dark brown mostly straight grained. Turns well and polishes to a fine luster. Wood darkens and mellows over time. Specific gravity .64
